Every runner is familiar with the situation, but prays to the Lord that it won't happen again. While training, a sudden urgency to empty the intestines. You have to lower pace, and waves of cramp come and, after a while, go, and are gradually but definitely gaining intensity.
I was running near Wierumerschouw. Anyone who has visited this part of our provice knows: your only chance to have a quite place to shit is the cemetry. A couple of people were visting the grave of their beloved. Their hands were crossed before their bodies, their heads were knodded down. Wind was in their hair. Silence was all over. Although urgency was overwhelming, i just had a tiny piece of respect for the dead left. Meaning i went on running and struggling, dying a little more myself.
A couple of bikers passed, and it was not very hard to read on their faces: "Shouldn't we end that guys suffering humanly?" Somehow i managed to reach the KVI, a research center for nuclear physics.
I asked the porter: "Excuse me sir, my name is tolboom, and during my running training i have been caught by an extreme urge to visit the bathroom." The porter looked at me over his reading glasses. He said nothing. A wave of cramp came up. Then my heart rate monitor started beeping. What made me look different from an Al-Qaeda terrorist planning to bomb this nuclear research center?
"First door on your right," he said without one eye blink.
One minute later a deep relief streamed through my body. At the end of the day i could imagine to take up running ever again.
