On october 6th Jantine and i visited a reunion of Rooie Rinus en Pe Daalemmer. Until the very last moment i was unable to believe that the tickets told the truth: their concert was to be given in the Martiniplaza in Groningen. This implies 5000 people showing up for two funny street musicians, who played in Groningen in the periode 1979-1983.
The tickets did not lie. The concert was sold out that evening and so was it the next. And in Loppersum, under the Lopster tower, there were more than 2000 maniacs singing their lungs out with the dynamic duo.
I am still puzzling about the roots of the success of Rinus and Pe. It must have something to do with their smart use of the Groninger dialect, giving people something in common in a world which is more and more one big but fuzzy community.
An evening impossible to forget.
